Scope :
There is good scope in almost every field if it matches your interest and skills.
-After graduation in Geology, you may get placed in different organizations in the role of demographers, agricultural specialists, urban and regional planners, remote sensing specialists etc.
-You can also seek placement in research agencies for environmental issues, population studies, rural development.
-If your interest is towards teaching, you can work in universities, colleges, schools. You can even start your own coaching institute after post graduation.

Salary depends on the size of the organization, profile, qualification, experience etc.

I have no idea about the NZ school, however, you must first check if you're suited for Animation. Animation is an art form and a very demanding career. It has ample opportunities for the creatively talented people. Opportunities lie in animation design, game design, graphics, storyboarding, 3d modelling, texturing and lighting, Dynamics and VFX and of course animation. However, choosing between these must be done after seeing your performance in each of these. Typically you should have good sketching skills to be able to make a sound career in this (if you work hard you can improve your drawing skills tremendously). Nothing but your innermost talent and passion should lead you to the course and the institute you choose.
