When you give your SAT, the scores will be automatically sent to the universities you choose. The university will evaluate your overall application alongwith SAT and decide whether to give you scholarship or not, they will compare your application with other applicants and will check if you deserve a spot in their university. It's an internal decision and many factors like scores, academic percentile, extracurricular activities etc are checked. Its on merit basis basically. Visit university websites and read about the financial aid. Some top universities may give on financial background but rare. To be in a competitive zone try to aim for a score of 1500 and above in SAT. Also, you should take the SAT subject test.
