Academics in SCoE's Mechanical Department are just like any other Pune University (PU) colleges. Only the senior faculties are exceptional, others mostly have exam oriented approach only (which I do not consider as a knowledgeable experience). Don't expect intellectual development here because they are just following PU courseware which has been diluted to a large extent in the past few years.
Regarding the extra-curricular activities, there isn't much to offer. Only the drama club and the car racing team is active throughout the year and other clubs are abuzz only during the college festival period.
