There are 2 modes of admission in DU. One is direct admission for internal students and the other one is through entrance exam, if you are not a student of DU.
To apply for MA, you need to have 60% aggregate or above. You need to fill the online application form, which will be made available in the month of April.

According to me, you have to apply for a test conducted by the Punjab university and accordingly as per the score of the exam you are allotted the campus for studies.and most probably there is no benefit of UGAT exam.

The most reputed colleges in Bangalore and Pune like the IISC and IISER admit students through the JAM entrance exam. Many private colleges have their own entrance exams. Other good colleges in Mumbai, like St. Xavier's admits students purely on merit basis but with a high cut off.

There is no entrance examination.
Candidates who have studied in Regular, Full time and Formal Education are alone eligible to apply.
Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1st July 1998 are eligible to apply.
Application form will be available from the first week of April 2018.
The Admission will be on the basis of the performance in the qualifying examination (10+2).
The candidates are short-listed based on their merit will be called for the counselling.

You can fill the admission form based on your Diploma marks average. The admissions process is conducted by DTE. After that, according to your preferences and marks, a college will be allotted to you. There are different merits for different branches. To check cut-offs, you'll have to visit DTE website.
