The eligibility criteria for PhD varies for every institute. However the basic requirement is a Masters degree or an equivalent degree in the relevant discipline. However the cut off percentages vary. Some of the institutes conduct entrance exams and some of them require atleast two Research Publications for the PhD programs. Some also require work experience of a couple of years.

Hi,
1. To be a teacher in school, B.ED is essential. Also you need to crack Teacher Eligibility Test. Eligibility conditions are:
(a) The minimum qualification for classes 1 to 5, Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or applying in final 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education (or its equivalent). (OR) Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or aspiring in final 4 year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B. El, Ed).
(b) The minimum qualification for classes 6 to 8, B.A/B.Sc with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1 year Bachelor in education (B.Ed). (OR) BA/B.Sc with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1 year B.Ed (Special Education).
2. Else if you aim at being a lecturer, then I would advice you to go for a regular masters degree in a relevant discipline and clear U.G.C NET conducted mainly to recruit research assistants and professors in various streams of education.
Qualifying Examination:
The candidates those who have completed their post graduation in related subjects from any recognized university are eligible for applying UGC-NET exam. The candidate must have a minimum of 55%.
