Nikhil, If you're creative, you can always consider going for Design and Animation. This is a field where nobody cares for your qualification, they only see if you can do quality work. In fact, the University Model has not succeeded in any Skill field across the world. A good mentor and wise selection of courses with a good school, followed by diligent learning, would get you a head start in your career. However, you must check your suitability for this field. Animation is an art form and a very demanding career. It has ample opportunities for the creatively talented people. Opportunities lie in UI Design, Graphic Design, Storyboarding, Animation Design, Game Design, 3D Modelling, Texturing and Lighting, Dynamics and VFX and of course animation (2D and 3D). Of course at the top of the pile lies Concept Designing - these people are required by Event Companies, Animation Studios, VFX Studios, and of course Game Studios. However, choosing between these must be done after seeing your performance in each of these. So going for a generic course covering all or most of these would be the best way to get started in these careers. The admission to the M E in design engineering course at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is purely on the basis of a valid GATE score or on the basis of a technical interview.
On the basis of a valid GATE score( for eg. 35 ), you are eligible for direct admission to the programme of your choice with a monthly stipend of 12500 rupees. There is no technical interview per say. On the other hand,if someone has not appeared for GATE or has not got the requisite score, but if one has a good academic profile in his BE or BTech degree, he/ she can apply too and shall be admitted on the basis of their performance in the technical interview that ensues.Also, such a candidate is eligible for a stipend of 5000 rupees, provided he or she falls in the top 5% of his class in terms of academic performance

The admissions for most of the management usually begins in the second half of the year and the notifications for various Institutes are released then, and on the basis of the procedure, the candidate has to adhere to the same.
