Hi Tintu, As you have been told that PGDM is a diploma. PGDM is an acronym for Post Graduate Diploma in Management while MBA stands for Master in Business Administration. MBA is degree. The main difference between these two is that a Degree is provided by only a University. An autonomous body (college, institute) can't provide any degree. they can provide only diploma and certificate approved by AICTE. Even IIMs, XLRI's don't offer MBA degrees they only give Diploma since they are autonomous and independent bodies.
The good point in autonomous body is that they design their own syllabus to be taught and they change it very frequently but Universities change it after a long time may be 3 years or 5 years or more. Their syllabus can be outdated but autonomous bodies have updated syllabus according to the current demand in the market. PGDM courses are more Industry relevant, up to date as compared to MBA courses.
But Degree has its own benefits. Some of the benefits of degree are :
one can do Ph.D only if he has MBA degree. PGDM holder can't do Ph. D. Few of the Govt. dept requires degree for the job and not PGDM. Although most of them treat both PGDM & MBA as equal

Please note that the eligibility criteria to pursue Ph.D varies from institute to institute. However the basic requirement is a masters degree or an equivalent degree in the relevant discipline.
However the cut off percentages vary. Some of the institutes conduct entrance exams and some of them require atleast two research publications for the Ph.D programs. Some also require work experience of a couple of years.
So as per your query I would suggest you to:
1. Shortlist the universities where you wish to apply.
2. Once shortlisted you may then contact the admission department of these universities to know the exact eligibility criteria for admission.
3. If you meet the eligibility criteria you may then apply accordingly.

For admission in a bachelor’s degree, you need to complete 10+2 examination with science subject such as physics, maths and chemistry. For IITs, It is mandatory to qualify in the Joint Entrance Examinations (J.E.E). The duration for this course is 4 years.
Some of the exams are:

COMEDK,

BITSAT.
etc.
