You can apply as a NON GATE candidate.
some colleges conduct exam and/or interview for non gate candidates (to fill the remaining seats of M.Tech)
bt my sugestion is Better join as a GATE candidate. coz u cant get STIPHEND if u r a NON GATE candidate. and most colleges don't maintain seats for NON gate Candidates. its almost impossible for u to get seat in good colleges like NITs and IITs.
