Why choose DISTANCE LEARNING? Being employed and consequently, lack of time is the prime reason why majority of the students choose DL. The fact that over 2/3rd of them chose management validates this. The hunger for quick success is also visible, as about 10% of the respondents said they pursue two... View More

Distance learning is a great option for those who really want to study and could not do a regular course due to time or money constraint. But I have seen that most students doing distance learning courses do not take it seriously at all. Regular students at least have classes to attend and have to spend some time on projects to pass but in distance learning, many students don't even open the coursebooks or study material until a week before exams!

What good can such study do? For a diligent student, it might not matter that he or she is doing a regular course or a distance learning course but God save those who do not want to study.

Regulars I think is the way to go. For those who want a boost in their carrers go for DL. According to a survey conducted by the CARRER 360 in venture with Yahoo India, out of 100 around 60 people do the MBA as their PG course through DL. This reinforces the popular perception that DL students only seek value for money.

Gautam Joshi Absolutely, right. But, as I said DL is an option which one opt for when he does not have many options with him. 'COMPROMISE' is the word which I have used here. The carrer advancement is a very important point in this regard, as a person earning money can not just overlook it for the promotion and the heavier bucks he will be getting in future. So, he chooses distance leaning.

Other than the above said reasons, there are two more major reasons to choose distance learning according to me viz. " Promotion or Potential for higher pay" and "Career advancement"

Well, it's a very good topic for discussion. For many people distance learning is a tool to provide the opportunity to carry on the family responsibilities and work commitments along with the studies. It's also important for those who have to travel a lot away from their homes and for those also who cannot travel at all. Flexibility, affordability remains other reasons of choosing distance learning. Sometimes, a candidate just choose it to collect degrees along with a hand in his/her family's big business empire.

But this is a fact that the regular or the traditional courses are far more better and beneficial than the DL courses. The DL is getting a hype just because the student wants to do the dual courses at the same time or the job with their studies. So, in a way this is a compromise they made.

Dear Gopal Constraints of choosing Distance mode is purely depends upon all those factors mentioned by u. One must have to go through with their own limitations then after choose the Distance Mode. While working Distance mode is ultimate without wasting time and without loosing Experience Gap. After finishing Degree from Distance Mode can Directly switch to higher post.
