    Hi Ishpreet,
If you wish to take academic, professional or vocational training at a university, college or other educational institution in Canada, you will need a study permit before you enter Canada.
In order to work off-campus, you need to have studied in Canada for at least one year (full time) and you must apply for a work permit through the CIC. If your application is approved, you are only eligible to work up to 20 hours per week while school is in session (and full-time during breaks and the summer). There is a CAN$ 150 fee to apply for the work permit.

The TOEFL is commonly accepted but Canadian universities often have their own tests for students or may accept other English tests such as the IELTS. A satisfactory score in TOEFL is 550 to 600. In IELTS a band score of 6.5 with no score less than 6 in any section of the IELTS. You may seek exemption from these tests while corresponding with individual universities if you have proven language ability/ school reports, however for the student visa, it is required. Hope it helps. Please feel free to revert. Click on the thumbs up or mark it as the best, if you found this useful. Wish You Luck!
