Hi,It is not necessary to be good at drawing portraits, figures, landscape etc. To excel in architecture and pursue B.Arch. It is more about the creative aptitude and the passion for design. There are many architects who communicate about their design through physical models. Also, I would like to point out here that there's a big difference between drawing like an artist and sketching your thoughts out on the paper no matter how messy they look. It does not need to be neat and clean but original. It obviously helps if you are good at sketching but not the deciding factor to pursue architecture. Other skill you need to inculcate is you

    Hi,
No, it is not a necessity. But consider this: A major part of your curriculum in Architecture, in India, relies heavily on model-making, drawing projections on construction paper, preparing plans, etc. Albeit a gifted drawing hand or a creative flair may not be a necessity, but you must consider that it surely gives an edge. As opposed to largely theoretical courses in rest of the specialisations, architecture does remain highly practical-approach based and that is why it helps to have a good hand at drawing.however, if you are really interested, that shouldn't stop you. Necessity, however, A clear-cut sense of direction and 3D vis

It would not be right to say that being good at drawing is a compulsion but you could say that as an architect one would have to give various projects, drawing plans, interior plans that can be shown to the clients.
The drawing skills would definitely be an advantage that will take it to the next level to show your creativity.
Some other skills can also include you to have 3D visualization to be able to imagine your plans well and show the necessary amendments required and a great sense of direction to plan the construction well. One should also possess good administrative skills and budgeting sense along with your knowledge of architect
