    Dear prachi,
My recommendation is to join classes the reason being in classes you will be able to cover up syllabus and you will get to know tricks of solving questions which is quite very much important in cat, no doubt one can crack it with self study as well but the only area where coaching plays important role is tricks and helping you in practice for GD and PI as well. so considering all these factors i recommend you for coaching classes.
    good luck

Self study is all that matters ! I would suggest you that - write a mock CAT to figure out your strengths and weak areas. Depending on your score you can figure out when to start preparing. Its possible to score well in CAT by preparing rigorously for 4-5 months if your basics are good.

Self Study is must. But I recommend an institute for entrance exam i. e. T. I. M. E. Join it. It will solve your queries and provide best mock tests in India. All the Best.

It is better to do self study. But in some topics u may have problem so u should hv a teacher ready to solve them. If you are self sufficient and can prepare frm books then no need of teacher. Start preparing, go through the topics and then decide whether coaching is needed or not. All the best.

If you have confidence that you will do it by yourself then you may not apply classes but must take guidance from previous year qualifiers if you know any. coaching will help you understand better and you will come to know about its pattern newly changed areas your weakness by regular tests your estimated score in exam and how much above you lie in competition
