Should IIMC and other Mass Communication entrance exams be conducted in online mode due to COVID?
As the country is hit by COVID-19, a lot of exams are either getting postponed or cancelled. IIMC is one exam, which is yet to be conducted and the official notification for the same is awaited. What are your thoughts on the same? Should IIMC and other Mass Communication exams be conducted in online... View More

Ofcourse yes, this should be conducted online all the media institutions/universities try to find some new way of conducting online entrance exam so that everyone get familiar with online mode.
-
Yes, of course.
It should be conducted online, as It will be difficult for students like us to go all the way from Assam to appear for offline exam due to the pandemic on rise. -
It should be in online mode for sure! But the bigger question is on the format- subjective or objective? As a digital educator I can surely state objective (MCQ based) online test is only concrete in subjects like Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude etc. Not for GS/GK where Remote Place Test (RPT) model test was held, we already know what happened last year. Now in case of subjective (Descriptive) based online test we can be at least confident that answering creative questions by thinking and writing will help in evaluation and not all can cheat in it within given time. The duration should also be reduced to 1 hr and it should be followed...more

No doubt that situation is not getting any better in our country but the thing is that are online exams sufficient enough for taking admissions in a prestigious college like IIMC? Online exams can pave way for malpractices. In my opinion, the exam should be taken offline only, but with strict covid guidelines!
If this is not possible, students can be asked to write on any topic of national or international importance with no plagiarism and based on that writing, students can be selected for an online/offline interview (as per the student's comfort). This way, their writing skills, as well as speaking, skills can be judged! -
No, Last year when the exam was conducted online there were a lot of malpractices going on. The online and digital infrastructure was just not robust enough to conduct exams fairly and strictly. Last year also unfair admissions happened. If this year also online exams happen God knows what will be the credibility.

With the threat of third wave, it surely is advisable to conduct all the entrance exams and other modalities to be online. We not just want to save selves but prevent disaster for the human race. Be distant. Be safe.

Yes, the test should be online.
-
Yes, IIMC should take an online test. Covid is rising very fast. Not everyone can travel from one state to another and those who can't will waste this year.
-
Online or Offline doesn't matter. The important thing is - Exam must be SUBJECTIVE ANSWER WRITING, the conventional way!
Journalism candidates are assessed on their critical thinking, their knowledge about current affairs and other national and international issues, their writing ability and some amount of creativity. Journalism is not a technical field where an OMR sheet can select deserving students. And institutes are anyway conducting exams, so I don't understand, whether giving the exam sitting at home or in a center, what difference will objective or subjective type bring in? IIMC must stick to its subjective type exam - in the ex...more -
Yes, the year is getting wasted, and every year matters.

In regard of this pandemic it will be convenient for the applicants to give the entrance exam through online mode only.
-
I think No. It shouldn't be conducted online. All undeserving students may get into IIMC then and surely it's not the place for that.
