What are the career & job prospects in India for Animation film making?

Animation can be defined as the technique of photographing successive drawings or positions of puppets or models to create an illusion of movement, when the film is shown as a sequence. Animation is an integral part of the entertainment industries. The animators have a vast opportunity to test their skills and knowledge. Entertainment industry in India comprising films and television are among the leading in the world for aspiring animators. Use of special effects is gradually increasing in Indian films and television shows. Only trained animators are capable of creating such incredible special effects as we view on screens. Apart from entertainment, advertising is one area where animation is used extensively. Most of the attractive commercials are handiwork of brilliant animation techniques. Both 2d and 3d techniques are used in creating television or web based commercials. Advertising is not only restricted to television but extends in a large way over the web. The internet is a platform for sharing information, images, videos, and messages among individuals throughout the globe. Thus, animation film making is a trending course which is having a good scope.

These can be both freelance, project basis and employment with leading organisations. Some well-known Universities and Institutions offer UG & PG degree programmes in animation.

Animation Industry You need to know about animation industry especially if you are seeking a career. Earlier animation industry was dominated by the West but India is also becoming a hub for animation. In India, the animation industry is growing rapidly because of its film industry. I want to give you some figure for animation industry in the world and then compare it to India. The world animation industry is estimated at $50 Billion. As compared to the world, India's animation industry is only $1.5 billion to $2 Billion. According to NASSCOM, animation industry in India is growing at the rate of 30%. Even gaming industry is growing rapidly. When to Choose Career in Animation: This is a very important question as you got to decide when you are going to start your career being an animator. Whether you should start after 10th (matriculation), 12th (Intermediate) or after graduation, you need to decide. It is because they say the early you start the better it is. Although, it is said that you should start your animation career as early as you can. Whether you want a Diploma or a graduate degree you don't know. You are confused. In India, students don't go for a graduate degree in animation so they go for only a Diploma course. So, let us see the different phases you can start your animation career with.

One can study animation, graphics and multimedia courses either as a full-time or part-time student. Several programs are offered like certificates, Diplomas, and degrees, etc. While admission into full-time courses, i.e. Diplomas and degrees, etc., is offered on the basis of entrance exam, and admission into part-time and short-term courses is offered on first come first serve basis. There are many institutes in major cities and towns of India, both private and government for providing training in animation, graphics and multimedia. Many institutes also provide internship and arrange job placements during or after completion of the course.

I am a student of graphic designing and animation. Job prospects for animators in India are rising at a very fast pace, thanks to the boom in the entertainment and gaming industry. Animation with time has got a good hold over movies, television and advertising industries due to the excessive use of special effects. Full length animation movies are in great demand. A single animation film requires as many as 500 animators or more, which means a huge employment opportunities. Animation is one of the concrete, lucrative and demanding career options which serves both entertainment and education (e-learning) industries alike. The starting pay packages of these animators are more than 15000. Within a span of 3 to 5 years, it will be Rs. 400000 to 500000 or could be 6 digit depends on the eligibility. So, the career is and job prospects are incredible in this field.
