The Ph.D. is a doctoral course in which students choose a topic or subject and do in-depth research on it. The eligibility criteria for applying for a Ph.D. are as follows:
1. Only those with a master's degree are qualified to apply for a Ph.D. programme.
2. You must have a master's degree in a field, course, or stream that is related to the Ph.D. you want to pursue.
3. At some universities, you may need an M.Phil to pursue a Ph.D. or you may get a one-year relaxation with this degree.
4. Many colleges also require you to earn a master's degree with a minimum of 50%.

For doing Ph.D. you must have to complete your Masters and along with Masters for getting admission in a reputated college you would have to clear the Entrance exam of that college Ex- RET for BHU, CRET for Allahabad University and for getting good stipend you should clear JRF conducted by CSIR.
