What are the main challenges I would face during my course in CA?

CA is an exam which does not need a person to be extraordinarily intelligent, it is an exam for a person with basic intelligence. No WhatsApp, no Instagram, No Favorite subject and no friends. These are some restrictions which are imposed on their own, too many subjects to study. CA exam is completely different where the evaluation is made based on substance rather than resemblance. Further syllabus is voluminous and if inadequate time is spent, failure is certain. It is near to insanity, if a person were to read the entire curriculum only once before the exams. You get hold of the curriculum only by repeated readings. Things get interlinked, dwindle and eventually will seduce you to think ahead. That’s the point you should reach before exams. Some of the major problems that typically a CA students face is: Non Supervision, lacking in time management, which book do I referred for getting update knowledge? Of course this answer doesn’t include the unique hardships one faces during Articleship. But the foremost and major problem is the practice. So please practice and not gaze problems, before exams. Practice using calculator with left hand. This significantly saves time. It makes your brain running fast, efficient and alive. You wouldn't want to shift pens between hands and searching for numbers in the calculator during exams.

Distraction - This is a very basic challenge which people find when they appear for CA exams. With a number of distraction options in the society and social network, this will be a big challenge. Fatigue - CA syllabus is voluminous in nature, this makes people get fatigue easily. Although people sit with books, topics might not be moving fast. This will be a major problem. According to me, it's easy to remove this challenge. While you start your preparation, be slow (make it 3 to 4 hours a day ) slowly increase the hours as days progress. Comparison - this problem will be there for anyone who discusses CA preparation with friends. How many did you complete? What have you completed? These discussions increase your stress factor and disturb you mentally. Avoid it. Every one of us has their own speed, who finishes topic first is not a matter of evaluation.

The problem of pass percentage is very high in the entrance exam and very low in the final exam which means that many people get stuck in CA for a big portion of their life. They, eventually, either fail to qualify CA at all or qualify so late that they end up in a compromised job role in any industry. In other words, the course gets harder towards the end when the student had already invested a lot of time and energy in the course. Lack of transparency in corrections: The expectations of the examiner are not clear. A lot of times you wonder as to why you are not given marks even when the answer is correct. Especially in cases of Audit/Law where the presentation and language for each student will obviously be different but the crux of the answer would be the same. Minimum stipend is Rs. 2,500 per month which is not enough as you can make out. The tenure for the articleship is very long. 3 years is too much. No international recognition. CPA and ACCA being courses comparatively easier have more value and recognition than Indian CA.

For a Chartered Accountancy aspirant, life is much like a mechanized activity where he/she needs to do certain things daily and repeatedly over years, both before and after being a Chartered Accountant. In order to make their occupied lives smooth and hassle-free, they must know and utilize time-management skills at best. The challenges a Chartered Accountancy student faces while pursuing the course is handling everything that he/she has to carry out on routine basis. These activities include attending classes for Chartered Accountancy, doing articleship and most importantly keeping a tab on college studies (if he/she is a current student in a college/university). Candidates who are able to manage every aspect and keep themselves abreast are able to sail through.
