If the embassy feels like you have plans to stay back in Canada, they will reject your visa. You need to show, in your covering letter, that you will come back to you country and work here. Well, although your answer should be diplomatic. Say, you want to pursue a particular field of study and that you can come back to your country and get a good job here.
Second reason could be your financial support that you show. If it's not proper and if the embassy feels like you are not properly supported financially, they might reject your application.
Generally, students who apply for diploma also get rejected.

The 3 main reasons could be submission of incorrect information, your academics and finances. From 2009 onwards Canadian system is ok with dual intent, so intent of staying back in Canada is no longer that big an issue. However what it means is that you need to submit correct information, have a strong study plan and sufficient finances for the duration of your course
