Aeronautical engineering is a branch of engineering in which an aspirant learns how a plane flies, what kind of machine is used, how these machines are made and their necessary components. Aeronautical engineers handle design, manufacturing and maintenance of aircraft, helicopters & UAV. There are lots of good career opportunities on completion of Aeronautical engineering. You can join DRDO/ ISRO/ Aviation manufacturing or its ancillary units/ Airlines/ Air Force/ Educational Institutes/ R&D Units / IT etc. Most of the jobs available are in the field of Maintenance. With large Aircraft manufacturing companies setting up shops in India, there are now jobs available in production, design, quality control etc. As per payscale. Com, an Aeronautical Engineer earns an average salary of Rs. 621,657 per year in India.

Hello Students, Aeronautical Engineering has a great aura compared with other branches of engineering. Human mind perceives it as esoteric or exclusive anything that is associated with flying objects. This factor compel many students to opt for aeronautical engineering branch for studies. So far so good, but what are the prospects? For this, one needs to understand where an engineer is needed the most. For maintenance, one does not need an engineering degree. With this background, if we examine the requirement of aeronautical engineers in India, then we can think of only two agencies, Defense Research and Development Organization and Indian Space Research Organization. These two agencies, indeed recruit aeronautical engineers almost every year, but in miniscule numbers. Next are some private organizations that have come up & are trying to have a foothold. Another set of employers are Armed Forces. One such aeronautical engineer has recently been selected as CEO of Infosys. The salary packages that one gets is as good as mechanical engineers and is quite reasonable, but the package keeps on changing from year to year and also from institute to institute.
