    MBA and PGDM are both business orientated courses. Yet the only difference is the approach to its curriculum. MBA give more focus to the syllabus framed by the university and no change is bought in for years. As for PGDM the focus is more on the current industrial demands and requirements. The curriculum of PGDM gets slightly changed every year. The flexibility provided by PGDM is the key success factor of the course. MBA only provides degree to institutes associated to a university, while PGDM is not affiliated to any university and has its own syllabus.     There is very slight difference, MBA is a degree awarded by University , whereas the PGDM is the degree awarded by an autonomous body.
    In india , generally the university cirriculum are controlled by the government and soes not allow it to be revised regularly to keep up with needs of the industry.So students getting MBA from various university loses opportunity without their fault.
    Having said that , All university cannot be considered on the same scale, we have FMS affiliated to DU and its one of the best.

    PGDM is more contemporary programme as the course taught are updated and covering latest developments in much practical manner (depends on the institute and the background of the faculty members not by their qualifications) while MBA is still an old fashioned course as they are under universities and mostly not updated.
