What impact does the IIM tag have on the CV of students?

It depends on many factors. The main factor is the tag. For example, IIM-Ahmedabad's name will have great impact but IIM Kashipur's won't be as great as IIM-A. Also, it depends on the field in which you are applying. Mostly, it will have a good impact on the CV. For freshers, it will mean a great deal, but you won't need to use the tag outside as you will already be placed through campus placements (surely for old IIMs). But if you graduated from IIM and worked for two years and looking for job change then the brand name won't have that great impact. Once you start working, all that matters is your work experience and your achievements and contributions in your previous company. IIM will prepare you for entering a field, but for growing in that field all that matters is the work you do and efforts you put in. So, it will have an impact to a certain extent. In the social sense, you surely will be respected and admired by others.

The IIM tag promises the average Indian kid a better life. There is enough proof in the newspapers with reports of the sky-high salaries during the annual placement seasons at these top-level institutes. I believe that almost anything can be learned off the internet. But the benefit of an education in an IIM is the exposure that they provide. Those from institutes other than the IIMs also make it big and have humongous salary packages. To get into IIMs one has to crack the prestigious CAT. CAT is the exam for smart people, so if you are from IIM, it means you have cracked it. That leaves an effect on the minds unknowingly. People are biased about IIM. So it affects the CV of the students. Having a degree from a top business school increases your chance of landing that job. It is not very much prominent but it is a factor.

I think IIM is more of an experience than a tag/brand. You get a lot of exposure. You get to meet people from different backgrounds. This helps you in enhancing your own personality. Also, you get to connect with people having similar interests as yours. This helps you to grow more in your field of interest. An IIM you a rich experience which in turn gives the student a lot of confidence, And it is this confidence that matters. Companies do not recruit just because you are from IIM. But they see the potential that the students have. This is true not just for IIMs but for other colleges like XLRI, FMS, SP JAin and others also. Once you start working it does not matter from where you have graduated, you have to perform and give your best. Yes, people do dream of getting into IIMs but it should not be just for the tag but for the growth opportunity it offers you.

All the students who passed out of IIM s have a very big brand name. The educational standard of IIMS is always higher than other campuses. IIMs benefits include: IIMs are the best in the world. No B-schools abroad are nearer to the standards of Indian Institute of Management. IIM-A, B, C are very famous. When we look into the teaching methodology the practices followed by these institutions are as follows: 1. Updating of course curriculum - The course curriculum or the knowledge imparted in IIMs is always new. 2. Live industry interaction- Industry oriented training helps students gain more practical knowledge. 3 Tie-ups - Tie-ups with major companies is another important factor for the stability of IIMs. 4 Faculties-National and international faculties are taking classes in IIMs. 5. Industry experts- Experts from industry always interact with IIM students. 6. Live case study- Case study helps the student know more about the real-life problems faced by a company. These are the differences between IIMs and international B-Schools. All these things make students stand above the other students.So when going to interview they will get shortlisted first.
