    Hi, How are you?
Well, Graduate Aptitude Test of Engineering is somehow necessary for core branches like mechanical, civil, electrical for PSUs or doing M.Tech from a better college.
You can give 2 attempts of it after doing a Bachelor degree. Then on the basis of SSC HSC UG grades and GATE score, you will get rank. If you get a good rank under 500, you will get a call from PSUs or else you will go for M.Tech.
    Thank you and keep asking!

There is a misconception among students is that the GATE exam is only for ME. /M.Tech which finally leads to a teaching career only. But, it is not correct. The GATE score of the candidate is also used by several public sector undertakings (PSU) (i.e., government-owned companies like Indian Oil, GAIL, and Hindustan Petroleum etc.). For recruiting graduate engineers in entry-level positions, to get Fellowship Programs from CSIR and Scholarships in ME/M.Tech and many more. To pursue ME / M.Tech / M.Sc Programs in any of the leading institutes in the country.
Master's degree leads to specialization and cultivates and brings out best of you
