A third of the total seats are reserved by MAHGU for students who are permanent residents of Uttarakhand. In addition to this, the university sets seats aside for those who are PWD (those with a minimum impairment of 40%) and SC/ST/OBC. Furthermore, some seats at Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University have been allocated aside for PIOs, Foreign Nationals, and NRIs.
