What is SAT exam given for?

<p>SAT stands for Scholastic Assessment Test. It is an entrance examination conducted by admission officers of various reputed colleges and universities in India and Worldwide like Princeton University, Stanford University, Austin College among many others. Students interested in admission in any of these colleges or universities apply for this examination. The examination is divided into three sections -&nbsp;</p><p>&bull; Reading Section&nbsp;</p><p>&bull; Writing and Language Section</p><p>&bull; Mathematics Section - Both Calculative and non calculative.&nbsp;</p><p>At times, one additional section i.e. Essay section is also added in the SAT examination. The usual time duration for the examination is Three hours (180 minutes ) or Three Hours and Fifty Minutes, if the essay section in included.&nbsp;</p><p>The best part of SAT Examination for Indian students is that the examination is conducted seven times in various months in one year. <p>SAT exam is given by high school students who are applying for admission to universities abroad. Most of the US, Canada, UK, Italy and a few Australian universities accept SAT scores for undergraduate admissions from international students. In some cases, students may have a choice to either submit a SAT score or ACT score or even exempt them from submitting any of these standardised tests for admission. SAT exam pattern is very different from ACT, with new changes in SAT, the duration has reduced for SAT exam as well. Most preferred among international students is the SAT exam and a large number of students sit for this exam.&nbsp;</p>
