What is the difference between mass communication, journalism and mass media? How are the three inter-related?

Mass communication is related to the semantics of communication. Journalism is about news making, print or electronics. Mass media comprises of all the modes of mass medium, television, radio, internet, film, newspaper, etc. The three are inter-related because no matter which course you do among these there will some of all in it.

Although these are inter - related and depends on each other in some ways. Journalism has little limited aspects as compare to mass communication and mass media.
Journalism get closes to just media houses but nowadays I have noted even journalism is getting a deep insight and full recognition. Mass communication and mass media are approximately same. It just mean a study of all the mediums that are used for communication. How we use them? Why they are important? What new or innovations have been introduced in communication system or patterns etc.

6 years agoMass Communication and Journalism are two different aspects of the same thing, to quite an extent. Let's take an analogy to understand better: If Mass Communication is Italian cuisine, Journalism can be thought of as pasta (one of the dishes in Italian cuisine). Or simply put, Mass Communication is an umbrella term that includes many fields such as Advertising, Event Management, Public Relations, etc., one of which is Journalism.
