Psychiatrists are doctors who graduate from medical school, they have a year of medical internship, and have 3 years of residency in the assessment and treatment of mental health disorders.
Psychologists have a doctoral degree in an area of psychology, the study of the mind and human behavior. They are not medical doctors. A psychologist can have a PhD in philosophy or a PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology. They do 1-2 years of internship. Unlike psychiatrists, psychologists are also trained in giving psychological tests such as IQ tests or personality tests. Psychiatrists can prescribe medication but psychologist can't.

The Psychology and Psychiatry are both different apart. Psychology deals with human perception, cognition, behavior, etc. Psychiatry on the other hand is a medical branch deals with mental disorder, diagnosis, prevention and medicines. Traditionally, the basic research program in Psychology has been obsessed with abnormal behavior and processes, and aptly complements,. Psychiatry with its applied focus on mental health and illness. On the contrary, you see psychiatry is more about medicine, nerves, brain, neurotransmitters etc. whereas psychology is more about how you think, feel, behave etc. My advise is that you may go with the cours

In simple words, Psychologists are professionals who evaluate and study behavior and mental processes. They do not give medicines, as they are not licensed physicians. They focus extensively on method like psychotherapy i.e. talking with their patients about their problems. What is Psychiatry?
Psychiatry is the study, analysis and treatment of mental disorders using psychotherapy, psychoactive medication, and other psychiatric modalities. The mental disorders psychiatrists treat include behavioural, affective, perceptual and cognitive abnormalities. All psychiatrists are also medical doctors, must have a medical degree to practice. Depending on the severity of the mental disorder, patients may be treated on an inpatient or outpatient basis. As mentioned, to become a psychiatrist, an individual must obtain a medical degree which may include the Doctor of Osteopathy degree.

Hi...

Yes — internships are possible for BA Psychology students

Psychology internships allow undergraduates to “apply theoretical knowledge to real-life situations” — in clinics, hospitals, wellness centers, research labs, schools, community-service centres, NGOs, etc.

Some mental-health / wellness centers explicitly offer internship/trainee-positions to BA or BSc psychology students. For example, Peace of Mind (India) offers “graduate internship (BA/BSc Psychology or Clinical Psychology)” which includes patient-center workflow, admin support, content-creation, and “live-project” work.
