What is the scope of B.Sc biotechnology?

B.Sc Student in biotechnology or any other biological sciences related fields, it is highly recommended that you pursue your M.Sc. The job opportunities for B.Sc. Graduates in a highly research oriented field such as biotechnology are very less and most students tend to pursue their M.Sc. In biotechnology or a specialised discipline of biotechnology. India is home to some excellent M.Sc. Programs such as JNU, DU, IISc, TIFR, IITs, etc. With an M.Sc. Degree, most students tend to work in research labs and industries as research assistants. The pay package is also quite less for M.Sc. Graduates. Since India is still developing, it is highly recommended that you do your M.Sc. In a reputed institution for good campus placements and job opportunities. If your university is not reputed, the chances of any biotech company coming for placements will be zero.

Many private businesses are exploring this field and heavily investing in it. It is safe to say that there are ample job opportunities for biotechnology graduates in private sector. Government sector too offers job opportunities, but not in the scale in which private sector does. Some prominent industries where Biotechnology professionals may find jobs are- Pharmaceuticals industry, healthcare sector, chemical industry and research sector. Research sector in particular is quite lucrative. One may build a rewarding career in this field. To thrive in this field, one must possess B.Sc as well as M.Sc degree. Average starting salary generally is between 2- 5 Lacs Rupees per year.
