Sociology is the study of social life, social relations, social change, and the social causes and consequences of human behaviour. Like most liberal arts majors, a BA in sociology gives a general background for a broad range of jobs. Most businesses, for example, expect the applicant to possess good analytical, writing, and oral skills and to be educable; they do not usually assume a major in a particular subject. Many employers prefer liberal arts majors both because they have been well-trained in "the basics" and because their broad education makes them flexible and adaptable to changing conditions. Good Luck!
