    Forensic science is a niche field with limited career opportunities in India. It is as a study preferred by police professionals. Unless you are very sure about your interest in the field and you are willing to take risks, you are advised not to choose such a narrow scoped profession.

    There are lots of job opportunities in the field of forensic science. The need for forensic scientists is huge all around the world, especially in India. Some of the forensic scientists visit the crime scene to collect the evidence themselves and another one work in a forensic laboratory to perform analysis on objects. In the forensic laboratory, they testify as expert observers in both criminal and civil cases and can work for either the defence or the prosecution.     Forensic scientists can be employed in the government sector. They work with different law enforcement agencies and investigation departments such as police, investigative services of state and central government and legal system. Some of the private agencies also employed those candidates who have some qualification in this field. A trained forensic scientist may get hired by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) & Intelligence Bureau (IB).     Forensic Science is an amalgamation of almost all faculty members of knowledge. It is an essential and efficient enabler in the dispensation of justice in criminal, civil, regulatory and social contexts. Currently, a few government and private universities offer courses in forensic Science. However, there is a need for improvement in the quality of education as well as training & research in the field of forensic sciences. So far most jobs in the field of forensic Science were in the government sector.
