The Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (KTET) syllabus is given below:

- Child Development and Pedagogy
- Language I- Malayalam/ Tamil/ Kannada
- Language II- English/Arabic
- Environmental Studies
- Mathematics
Category II
- Child Development and Pedagogy
- Language I-Malayalam/ Tamil/ Kannada/ English
- Language II- (Other than Language I) Malayalam/ English/ Hindi/ Arabic/ Urdu/ Sanskrit
- Mathematics and Science (for Mathematics and Science teachers) or Social Science (for Social Science teachers)
Category III
- Adolescent Psychology, Theories of Learning and Teaching Aptitude

Depending on the category, different subjects are covered in the KTET syllabus. Language proficiency, pedagogy, mathematics, and child development are covered in Category 1 (Lower Primary).
