The National Institute of Design (NID) administers the NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT), a national entrance test, to select applicants for admission to the Bachelor of Design (BDes) and Master of Design (MDes) programmes that the participating institutes provide. Registration - 8 Sept–5 Dec 2023
Prelims admit card available - 12 Dec 2023
Prelims exam - 24 Dec 2023
Prelims results available - 16 Feb, 28 Mar 2024
Mains admit card available - 22 Feb, 14 Apr 2024
Mains exam - 3 Mar–28 Apr 2024
Main results available - 30 Apr, 21 May 2024

The candidate needs to report for the exam at 8 am. Gates closing time is 9.30 am.
The B.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 1 pm; meanwhile, the M.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 12.30 am.
The DAT Prelims for the B.Des programme will be conducted in a paper-and-pencil/pen mode. The question paper may incude both textual and visual questions. Other details like duration of the exam, marking scheme, etc. will be published in the DAT Prelims admit card.
The DAT Prelims exam for the M.Des programme will be conducted offline and include a mix of objective and subjective questions. The paper will have a total of 100 questions.
