Where would FMS stand when compared with the prestigious IIMs?

Let's start with the rankings. IIM-Ahmadabad stands at 1st position. IIM-Bangalore stands at the second position. While IIM0Calcutta stands at the third position. So, the top three positions are occupied by the prestigious IIMs. Following them is XLRI-Xavier School of Management and IIM-Lucknow. Now, comes the turn of our college in focus-Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi. So, it is ranked 6th according to the rankings given here which took in account rankings from various sources. So, if you aren't getting any of the top three IIMs, you can consider this college. The infrastructure and facilities are pretty good. The average package is around 20 LPA which is at par with the IIMs. So, it is a pretty good college.

FMS (Faculty of Management Studies), University of Delhi is a premier B-School of the country. Ranked among the top 4 business school of the country FMS has created history to be ranked among the top IIMs. With a legacy of many years of great faculty, industry exposure, placement record FMS has been one of the top Institute in the mind of the potential candidate aspiring to crack CAT with good score.Talking about the rank FMS is above many IIM's as well it is above IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak, IIM Mandi and many more. Just IIM-A, IIM-B, and IIM-C are ahead of FMS. It is one of the best Institute to study in.You have to score 94+ percentile to get a call from FMS for GD-PI. FMS has separate brand value in the corporate market, and IIMs has their own identity. FMS is no doubt an exceptional college with amazing faculty, excellent placements, and super talented students. If you feel that finance is a big factor for you and you simply cannot have debt in your life at any point of time, go ahead and join FMS. Well, IIMs are a kind of brand as compared to FMS. However, it is not that if you make your way to FMS and not IIMs, you will lose in a big way. Both the institutes have their own brand value and in the changing world, I feel that it is more important that you keep yourself updated with the latest happenings that are taking place in the field of management. To conclude IIMs have special faculty dedicated only and only for the management stream. FMS is that division of a university which is concerned with management courses. IIMs are sperate institutes specially set up for management courses FMS is great but IIMs have an edge in terms of placement and exposure. Hope this helps you.

Hi Top, Firstly, FMS Delhi is in the same league as the top IIMs (A, B, C, L) as they all are some of the best B schools in our country in all aspects and are often compared with each other. FMS Delhi has a huge number of marketing firms visiting the campus for summers as well as final recruitment. Moreover, FMS Delhi has a much smaller batch size (~220 students) compared to XLRI so it is easier to excel at FMS Delhi than elsewhere in a larger batch. Both institutes are rich in its history and therefore have varied and strong alumni base. Another advantage that FMS Delhi enjoys is that it is situated in the heart of Delhi University, thereby providing you lots of cross-university colleges networking and broader exposure. At the same time, being in the capital of the country does have its own advantages in terms of greater exposure, more corporate interaction etc. In terms of fees, it is well known that FMS Delhi is quite inexpensive compared to any other B Schools in the top strata. Moreover, the semester based system at FMS Delhi offers ample time to its students to pursue their own interests, apart from academics at the college. However, one downside of FMS Delhi is that it doesn't have the facility of semester exchange program. Another downside at FMS Delhi is that its batch of students have lower diversity compared to that of IIMs, given that no free lunches are given to students from a specific academic background and all are treated equally. Consider strengths of each of them before you make a selection.
