Hi Mohit, Visual merchandising is the new age art of displaying merchandise in a manner that it becomes appealing in the eyes of the customer. Visual Merchandising includes displays, signs, internal displays, promotions etc; and it gives the retailer an opportunity to bring life to their store products. A visual merchandiser in the fashion industry is one who determines how a product is displayed to the public. They are responsible for how the merchandise in the windows of a store is presented. They determine where and how merchandise will be displayed on the sales floor. For example, pants need to be hung on T-Stands or in wall fixtures, denim needs to be folded by size on shelves, sweaters need to be folded by color on tables, this printed blouse needs to be hung next to this full leg trouser, new product needs to be moved to the front of the store- sale to the back, etc. Visual Merchandisers are the liaison between corporates vision of how their product should be displayed "in-store" and the retail store managers/merchandisers implementation and placement of the product on the sales floor. When new product arrives in-store they plan and facilitate how they can incorporate it with the merchandise already displayed. The visual merchandiser wants the customer to be drawn into the store through its window displays. They organize merchandise strategically on the retail floor so it's easy for the customer to shop effortlessly. VM's also determine where signage and mannequins should be placed, and they merchandise pieces together to create outfit ideas for the customer. A visual merchandiser is very creative and artistic, has an incredible eye for color and texture, and has fashion-forward ideas and style. They ultimately try to see the product through the eyes of how the customer will see it when they walk into a store. They want it to look intriguing enough for that customer to buy it!

Job description of Visual Merchandiser (VM):- Responsibilities and Duties:- Responsible for creating & maintaining a compelling presentation that will engage customers & help stimulate sales activity Design and implement a creative visual merchandising strategy Create appealing and eye-catching visual displays that lead the customer through Define the entire store Produce window displays, signs, interior displays, floor plans and special Promotions displays Identify key messages and set a clear image of the end result Come up with, revise and present design ideas with assistant merchandisers Act in alignment to the organization’s culture, products, image and target market Monitor costs and work within the budget.
