Which course is better: ECE or CSE?

I would say scope of placements is approximately the same. The other thing is the interest in electronics it is different a bit and in CSE it is computer Science is involved. However in CSE you have diverse paths to follow and innovation is always involved. I can enlist some of the universities like Amity University, Lovely Professional University, and GLA University etc. In ECE, you can handle various professional assignments as Software Developers, VLSI Designers, Embedded Engineers and RF Engineers in electronics, telecommunication, and IT industry in government, semi-government and private sector. In CSE you can attain technical positions as Developers, Design Engineers, Solution Integrators, Network Administrators, Database Administrators, Software Testers, Web and Mobility Engineers in a variety of computing domains such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, robotics, graphic solutions, simulations and cloud computing at leading companies like Accenture, HCL, Wipro Technologies, Cognizant, TCS, LG Soft, Tech Mahindra and Infosys.

In abroad, there is no electronics and communication engineering. Instead, the universities have EECS (electrical and computer sciences) or Electrical engineering departments under which the branch specializations of ECE are present. There is also ECE in some places, but it stands for electrical and computer engineering. So, just be sure about it. Now, coming to your question, it all depends on your interest. If purely monetary benefits are considered, CSE is expected to pay you more. But, if you are not that much into computer architecture and coding, it may be dangerous to opt for CS purely for the sake of money. If you have a genuine interest in core Electronics, there are many great specializations abroad- wireless, embedded, power electronics, opto-electronics and what not. Besides, there is lot of inter-disciplinary work in all the universities abroad. So, there will be ample opportunities for you to learn about other courses and at the end of your MS, I can assure you that you will emerge with exceptional skill-set irrespective of your branch and with immense choices- work abroad, R & D engineer in India, startups and what not. So, just figure out your field of interest and work hard.

Among ECE and CSE, deciding which one is better depends on the person's interest. Both are equally good. If you love coding and stuff, then it'll be better to choose CSE, and if you love more of circuits and robotics, then choose ECE. Between ECE and CSE, there are higher chances of CSE getting higher pay packages. But don't get disheartened. As for campus placements, mainly IT companies visit and they pool both from ECE and CSE background depending only on your abilities. Again, both the streams will give you a lot of scope for higher studies! In ECE, you have an additional advantage- ESE (Engineering Service Examination) covers only 4 streams and ECE is among them. You can join some core companies for ECE, which will fetch you a high salary.
