Which is better among mechanical and electrical engineering?

Ask the following questions to yourself first:
1. What are the things you would want to do with your life as a Engineer?
2. What are the things that your degree will enable you to do? If your aspirations, your passion and interests for the answer 1 match the answer of question 2, do that degree. Both Mechanical and Electrical have ample scope for good well-rounded professionals in the industry, the only point is to do it from a college / university of high repute and standing among the industry. You must also keep in mind your eligibility and selection process of good colleges like IITs, NITs, VIT, MNIT, BITs, LPU, PEC, Thapar etc. The...more -

5 years agoHi Pritam, Well, refer recent NIRF rankings 2020 released by MHRD. One of the best choice would be to study at Lovely Professional University. If you are at LPU. Both branches of engineering are more or less equally good and will offer good and equal opportunities. You must consider your interest here. If you like reading about how machines work, how they are designed, how they are made, then go for mechanical. If you are fascinated by electrical circuits and power of electricity, its components, its uses, how its generated, how circuits are made, electromagnetic switches etc. , go for electrical engineering. All the best for your futu...more -

5 years agoHi
A lot depends on your interest as you can give your best in a stream for which you are passionate. The companies to pick the bests. So decide your interest to give your best. I would choose LPU a brand name for both mechanical and electrical engineering for various reasons:
1. The LPU infrastructure is quite vast and enough to support all types of practical like the ones needed for agriculture, physical education etc. The lush lawns are very inviting.
2. LPU has all the necessary accreditation.
3. The faculty is not only experienced but is updated with the latest learning by industry experts in the faculty development programs held at...more -

Every branch is good provided you have a strong interest in that. I will brief you both and its prospects then you can decide as per your orientation. EEE stands for Electrical & Electronics Engineering. This branch of Engineering has recently gained momentum due to the industrial demands of having an individual with skill set of both an Electrical as well as an Electronics Engineer. But to clarify Electrical Engineering is the mother of all these branches (ECE, EEE, CS IT). This branch may make you work in State Electricity Boards, make you a professor with suitable specialisation, make you do research and sell new technologies (thank...more

Mechanical engineering is a better option than electrical engineering.

Hello!
I would say look for which course suits you best. Look for option which aligns with your area of interest. Electrical engineering deals with the design of different types of electrical systems. Its considered the largest branch of the engineering fields. Electrical engineers examine issues related to electronics, control systems, signal processing, and telecommunications. Mechanical engineers get knowledge in physics and material Science for the design, manufacture, and testing of all kinds of mechanical products and machinery. This knowledge spans from mechanics and thermodynamics, to structural analysis structural analysis are...more -

Both mechanical and electrical engineering are the evergreen branches. However, here you have to go with your interest, choose the branch that interests you. Although mechanical engineering has better scope over electrical engineering, by doing mechanical engineering you can opt the electrical post in an industry, but by doing electrical, you can't go for mechanical.

I've had a really good experience with the mechanical engineering faculty at Chandigarh University. Most of them are PhD holders, so you can tell they know their subject inside out. What I like is that they're not just teaching from books—they share real-world examples, guide us in labs, and help with projects. The faculty is approachable, so if you ever get stuck on something, you can just ask, and they'll explain patiently. They also encourage students to explore electives like Thermal & Energy Engineering, Industrial Manufacturing, or Design & Robotics, and help you pick what suits your career goals.

Yes, Chandigarh University is a good choice for B.E. in Mechanical Engineering. What I really like about the programme is the variety of specializations you can pick, like Thermal & Energy, Industrial Manufacturing & Management, or Automation & Robotics. The labs are another strong point from 3D printing and advanced welding labs to industry-backed centres by Honda, Mahindra, Hyundai, and MG Motors. These collaborations give you hands-on exposure that feels very close to real-world industry work. On top of that, the department is both ABET and NBA accredited, which adds global recognition.
