All in all CAT and IIFT have got different challenges, challenge need will-power, determination and constant effort to surpass expectation. I would like to day that if CAT is 'ODI' then IIFT is 'T20'. Game is same but strategy is different. The one difference that I found is that IIFT requires timings strategies as there are individual cutoffs for different sections and one cannot afford to score high in one section and low in the other. CAT has fixed time slots for each of the section and thus the server handles the timing part for you. Honestly till last year IIFT is easier of two, but make no mistake IIFT has its own sets of challen

There is nothing such thing called tougher to crack or easy to crack. This view depends upon the preparation of the exam you are giving. There are a number of exams conducted in India for the MBA type courses. Exams like CAT, XAT, GMAT, MAT, IBSAT, NMAT, SNAP, etc. have some minor tweaking and variations apart from the main sections. Each of these exams has a quantitative aptitude, verbal reasoning, logical reasoning and data interpretation, apart from GK or essay writing section in some of the exams. Both the exams are difficult to crack without preparation. If you are thorough the preparation might be easier for you. CAT is for admission into IIMs, FMS, MDI, JBIMS, SPJIMR, etc. and other top B-schools. But IIFT is only to get admission in India's top foreign trade institute, IIFT, New Delhi.

Both the exams are tough exams to crack. It depends what you mean by cracking exam. If you want to get into top 10 B- Schools accepting CAT score like Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad (IIM-A), Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B), FMS-Delhi or Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) than CAT is tough to crack. Otherwise if you are aiming for other B-School accepting CAT score IIFT is tougher to crack.
There is additional General Knowledge section in IIFT exam which makes it tougher to crack but difficulty level in other sections is less compared to CAT exam.
