Initially, Siddha was the integral part of Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Siddha (CCRAS), but now the government has created a new research council for siddha I.e. Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRA). After successful completion of Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS), one can pursue higher studies in MD or PhD. There are many Siddha government medical colleges across Tamil Nadu where one can get teaching jobs after completing one's higher studies.
There are many opportunities available for the BSMS doctor for getting jobs in the private sector. There are pharma companies where one can get jobs as pharmacologist or pharma expert. After passing PhD or MD, such doctor is also eligible for teaching in Siddha medical college. These doctors are hired as a consultant in the Ministry of AYUSH, research council, national institutes, etc. Job options for Siddha doctors are available in the private organizations such as clinics, nursing homes, Health Department, siddha colleges, Drug laboratories and so on. One can also open one's own clinic and practiced there as a Siddha physicians.
On the other hand, Ayurvedic medicine is gaining popularity all over the world because of its curing ability and the medicines no side effects. It is also known to promote positive health, longevity and beauty. There are suitable job options for Ayurveda practitioners in research, academic, clinical practice, drug manufacturing, etc.
After completing BAMS course, one can get a job in government or private sector as:
1. Central Government Jobs:
- As an insurance medical officer in ESI hospitals
- As a medical officer in Central Government Health service
2. State Government Jobs:
- As a medical officer in state government Ayurveda hospitals
- As a Medical officer in Municipal Corporation hospital
Private Sector Jobs:
- As a medical officer in private Ayurveda Hospitals and centers like Shri Shri Ravishankar's Art of Living hospitals, Baba Ramdev's Pantajali yogpeeth center, Maharshi Mahesh yogi's center, other corporate organizations.
- As a medical officer at Private Ayurveda medical colleges.
