Which one is better: Hotel / Hospitality Management or Event Management and why?

Hi, Hospitality Management and Event Management are two different field of study and you can't compare them. Hotel Management teaches the individual about the operations of a hotel and How to manage the various aspects of running a hotel. The Working of all the four departments, Front Office, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage Service and Food Production is taught in detail in Hotel Management. On the Other hand Event Management is related to Event planning, Selecting a venue, Organizing, and managing an entire event. Both the fields are good and will provide immense growth opportunities if you are passionate.

Event management is the course which an individual can take, if the individual is good in socializing, organizing and has the basic knowledge of persuasion. In simple words, event managers are the people who organize parties, get together and sometimes wedding. They organize the decoration, food, invitations and other kinds of stuff according to the choice of the customers. If you are going to start studying now, you will have more chances in the metros and social hubs but within a decade small cities are going to start hiring you too. The hotel management sector has a lot of opportunities in the various departments in Front office, Food and beverage, Food production and housekeeping. Therefore, hospitality becomes a wider area for placements and packages. The choice of the nature of work is wider. This experience in the hospitality sector will offer great chance to move among various fields in the future as per the interest that you build.

Actually, every field of work has a good selective points and some bad loopholes, which depend on the person’s ability to enact them. But, each field has a bright growth in future. Accordingly that depends on the person’s interest to work. Majority goes to hotel management which covers all the core departments which handles the operation of the hotel. A good hotelier with high experience has an ability to cope up with all the sector of remaining field related to hospitality industry and event management or planning, because in a hotel, all these hospitality and event related works are done, which is easy for a hotelier to show creative way of presenting the work.

Hospitality students tend to focus more specifically on the running of hotels, restaurants, catering businesses and events. They have lectures on quality control, the latest food and drink, the front of the house and housekeeping skills. On event management courses, an emphasis is placed on the broader picture I.e. how do you plan, promote and run events? And the term events is incredibly diverse, including anything from a small wedding to a big corporate meeting or the award shows. Hotel Management is an area of study that covers a wide range of topics concerned with the operational aspects of hoteliers. Educational courses in hotel management are varied and cover topics as wide-ranging as marketing, eco-tourism, leisure, business administration, and management. However, Event Management is the application of project management to the creation and development of large-scale events such as festivals, conferences, ceremonies, formal parties, concerts, or conventions. It involves studying the brand, identifying the target audience, devising the event concept, planning the logistics and coordinating the technical aspects before actually launching the event. Event Management is a better option as it makes one master in different fields like Hospitality, ticketing, legal issues, front office as well as back office works. It makes a person 'Jack of all trades'.

Event Management is totally about corporate or wedding occasions, whereas hotel/hospitality management is all about any particular hotel and its Management. In event Management, you will only look after your guests and Events which you have undertaken and in hotel/hospitality management, you have to look for each and every thing that is happening in the hotel.
