Which one should I prefer for an LL.B: Faculty of Law, Allahabad University or IMS Law College and why?

Hi, First of all, I think the fact that IMS Law College is comparatively new and a private college gives an edge to Faculty of law, Allahabad University which is a centralised government university. Now, let us discuss pros and cons of both colleges. Pros of Faculty of law, Allahabad University are the faculty and alumni basis which includes many chief justice of India and prominent lawyers. Another pro is the fact that you can intern with some phenomenally well lawyer in Allahabad high court and if you are going for litigation, it can be a good choice. However, the placements of Allahabad University are not really encouraging since it has started 5 year integrated course recently. Moreover, the red tapism is too much in centralised university and autonomy to student body is restricted. Now, coming to IMS Noida, which is among few private university focusing on moots, debates and other co-curricular activities which is a major pro of it. Another pro is the fact that it is in NCR and many good firms are established in NOIDA unlike the case of Allahabad University. The alumni is almost negligible and the high court internship can be tiresome owing to distance issues. Overall, it is upon your preferences whether you want a government university or a university promoting activities other than academic excellence. Good luck.

Hello, Faculty of law, Allahabad University is a Central University, which has a good reputation for producing some very good lawyers like Prashant Bhushan and some of the former Chief Justices of India like, J. S. Verma, V. N. Khare, Kamal Narain Singh and Mohammad Hidayatullah. It provides for an integrated B.A.L.L.B Course of 5 years and it being a Central University, the fees are also relative to the lower side, as compared to IMS Law College, which is a private university and in the past couple of years, it has been ranked among the Top private law colleges in India. It has a location advantage over Faculty of Law Allahabad University, as is it located in Delhi NCR. IMS also provides for an integrated course of 5 years and provides good facilities, being a private college, with high fees. Therefore, based on the above points, I think you should make a decision, whether to join a Traditional University with a good reputation, producing some brilliant personalities in law or to choose a Private University, which has been growing and improving at a very fast rate, with a location advantage. In securing a job, location does matter.
