Which stream is better among mechanical engineering and electrical engineering?

Firstly I would like to suggest you that stream choice depends on your interest because capability of candidate matters a lot as compare to degree. Moreover, Electrical engineering is a little better than mechanical engineering, as it has better scope, more job opportunities for electrical engineers, so better go with electrical engineering along with your efficiency.

It's necessary to have the groundwork because so much of engineering is built on top of it. In everyday work you may find that the field-specific software in daily use does 99% or more of the heavy mathematical lifting for you. It's when the software kicks up an unexpected result that you need to be able to assess whether the result is trustworthy. For this, you need a reasonable understanding of the basic principles and assumptions upon which your software is based.

Well it is not about stream, the one which is better is totally dependent on individuals interest. I would say that the programme which you choose based on your interest will give you more success.
