Generally, everyone feels anxious and nervous while facing an interview. And it's very human.
There are two aspects of interview preparedness: pre-interview preparedness and in-interview preparedness. Some of the steps that might better prepare for an interview can be:
Pre-Interview:
1. Do your homework well before facing an interview. Homework includes complete knowledge about the course and college you have applied (go through their website thoroughly); the expectations interview panel has from you (there are lot of forums discussing interview pattern of specific colleges);

3. Some Interview boards expect a basic level of subject knowledge, so thoroughly prepare you graduation level subjects (at least few of them can, if not all).
4. Scan what is happening in and around your environment and have a point of view. This boosts your confidence manifold. (A well-read you will feel more confident in an interview).
5. Have some practice sessions with some senior or friend or elder in the family.
In-Interview:
1. be presentable. Wear formals. Decide well in advance what suits you, looks good on you and makes you sharp and confident. (Last minute wardrobe shuffle might make you jittery). Spend some time on personal grooming too. Take help from people around you in deciding what looks professional on you.
2. Reach well in time with all the documents required by the college/Interview board.
3. As you enter, walk confidently, body straight, head up, and wear a lovely smile.
4. While answering, listen to the question first, understand it fully, and take a brief pause and then answer. Don't jump to the answer immediately.
5. Generally these days interview boards are very friendly and they try to keep the candidate at ease.

Hi Anita,
Whenever, you are going for an Interview, just remember or keep in mind only two things:
1. You are here for selection so you have to be confident while answering and
2. You don't know the other person so feel comfortable while answering those questions.
Rest leave everything on Interviewer because you never know what exactly he/she is looking for and these Interviews are for admissions so generally they are looking towards your Communication skills, Confidence, and Personality.
