Why are there so many physical attributes required for a cabin crew such as height, weight, etc.? Is looks an important criterion as well?

Height and weight should be within the BMI limit. For male, BMI range is 25 and for female, it is 23. As per DGCA requirement, one has to undergo medical test, initially and one has to be medically fit to perform the duties of a cabin crew. Nowadays, you need to undergo fitness test every 4 years. You must have a pleasing personality of course. But, it is not the only criteria for selection or rejection. All the best.

Cabin crew height requirement is a major criteria because in order to performs their responsibility cabin require vertical functional reach of at least 2.01 meters (6 feet 7 inches) when standing on feet flat against the floor. This is for safety requirement as cabin crew will be required to reach equipment that is carried on board the aircraft. Therefore, airlines specify minimum height requirement. Cabin crew is required to be healthy to perform their in-flight functions. Therefore, healthy weight is determined by standard accepted body mass index of 19 to 4.9. Cabin crew is a customer service functions therefore airlines in addition look for pleasing personality with an unblemished complexion and good body language. Thank you.

Cabin crew is the face of the airlines in case of the air travel. They play a very important role in ensuring that the customers receive the best of services as promised on flight. There are certain physical attributes that are considered a mandate for the placement or recruitment of the cabin crew for any airlines. These physical attributes are divided among the basic grooming standards that are learnt and modified as per the rule of the airlines and the basic standards that are common for the crew across airlines. These physical attributes help the crew to perform their duties such as: Height- The criteria being 5'3 for females and at least 5'8 for males. This allows the crew to be able to handle the overhead bins and oxygen mask pits in case of emergency. Weight- Particular weight range allows the crew to be light on their feet during their chores and there is very limited space to accommodate the crew in the aisle and kitchen area hence the weight needs to be managed. Age-Certain age criteria ensure that one is in the best possible health conditions to be able to handle major climatic and location changes. So yes, it is quite necessary to keep these and few more criteria in mind as they do play an important role in the job profile of a cabin crew.

The job of a cabin crew is a rigorous one and along with being responsible for the safety of the passengers and be actively anticipating steps in case of emergencies, one also has to be pleasant at all times and greet the passengers with a smile. There is a minimum height requirement for both male and female cabin crew which is 170 cm and 155 cm respectively. This Height requirement is mainly because the cabin crew needs to be able to reach and shut all the overhead compartments and do other stuff relative to emergency procedures if any. Along with that, there also is a weight limit imposed on cabin crew. There was a study which said that if the cabin crew is of a certain maximum weight, the cumulative reduction of total weight over a course of a year in the flights can result to saving fuel worth millions. Also, being of a certain height and weight makes the cabin crew look fitter and attractive which in turn would be assuring confidence in the passengers. Most companies do not stress too much on the looks of the aspirants as long as they have flawless skin without any marks or blemishes on the visible parts of the body and they do not have any visible tattoos. As a cabin crew is also the face of the airline they work for, it is important that they maintain a good level of fitness/physique and also meet the requirements of medical fitness set by DGCA for flight operations.

Hello, Cabin Crew is one of the most important people for the airlines. Cabin crews are the ones who interact with paying passengers on board the aircraft. Hence each and every airline pays as much attention in recruitment against these vacancies as possible. Looking smarter is a must and hence all reasonable parameters prescribed make sure that airlines get what they want. From another perspective, the main job of cabin crew is to ensure safety of aircraft thus providing safe service to the guests. Towards achieving this goal, it was observed that the cabin crew must be fit and agile. Since these are the two criteria’s that will come in handy during aircraft Emergency handling. Thus it was just seen as to the reason and logic behind prescribing restrictions on prospective cabin crew. And hence these are followed without fail by all airlines.

Whenever you seen the vacancy for a cabin crew, the essential criteria that is mentioned is perfect height, weight, proper eye sight etc. All these are mandatory requirements for the job of cabin crew, because it specifies your physical fitness. Regular monitoring of BMI (Body Mass Index) is done and the capability of your body is checked. If you are not found eligible, they can reject you any time. All these are required, because the training schedule is too harsh. You have to stand their rigorous training and hence, they have to check, whether you are eligible for cabin crew training or not? At very high altitudes, sometimes people go through some medical issues. To avoid these situation, they want you be fit. Apart from that, they check your past medical history, your current medical report etc. Hence, it is essential for you to gain required height and maintain required weight to be in aviation sectors.

Yes, there are so many physical features required by the IATA for giving job to student for cabin crew. Basic requirement, is student must have a height more than 160cm and not less than 212 cm and having balance BMI. Having good nature, helping nature, friendly, gentle and many other is essential. Student who passed their class 12th with at least 50%marks can apply for this job, but age does not exceed more than 25 year. As this is the job of hospitality in which aspirant has to be gentle behavior with the passenger, have to help and talk with easy way, so that they feel good and the services of airline is good. So, for the better services and quality they need all the gentle behavior in the student who are getting this job.
