Why do people say that an MBA in HR is for girls?

It's just a general concept that MBA in HR is for girls but when to compare it with the real world you will find out that top HR positions are with male students rather than female students. MBA with specialization in Human resources Management is a stream which is very demanding and requires skilled like Communication skills, Negotiating skills, Inter-personal Relationship, Handling of grey color, and also handling the grievance of the employee with offering them the suitable work environment as they want. So, it is a myth that MBA in HR is only for girls but nowadays there has been a shift in the trend the male candidate are also opting for HR stream as well with the female. So, it overrules the statement that it is for Boys. Accordingly to a survey the boys are surpassed the girls in the terms of no of candidates pursuing HR. So, it must be neglected that the stream is for girls but yes it can be said that it is the most preferred Stream for the girls but not for the girls.

Generally, that's the way people think and there are some reasons that there are more female HRs are out there as compared to male. That could be a reason for this but there are male HRs out there which are also handling the department pretty well. It's just like at the start, people had a mind-set that MBA it just one basic Masters course but after some time, an organization starts to feel that there is a requirement for MBA in organisation to handle all the management. It's just a matter of time then you won't feel that MBA in HR is only for girls (females).

I also heard this sentence many of times, that MBA in HR is for girls, but it is not so. There are some reason, but it does not mean that you specialize a specialization according to male or female. When it comes to comparison, females have high observing and convincing power as compared to males. Females are good at judging people and are also not bias with any one. One reason could also be, that females have a good listening and communication skills, which is mandatory for HR people. Females are good at managing things and in HR, they have to manage human resource. In this case males may sometimes lack behind, but that does not mean that boys cannot do the HR job. They can also change the scenario. You may find, that boys also perform well in HR job. So, it is just a myth, which people have nothing else. If the person thinks, that he has the quality to become a HR, then I suggest to go for it and don't ever think what others are thinking.

It is just misconception that MBA in HR is only for girls. As per my view to be a good HR person, they need to have good interpersonal skills, decision making, good friendly attitude etc. When girls join B-school, they mostly hear from others, that they should choose HR in specialization. It is said, that girls would make better human resource managers, because of their innate qualities such as politeness, empathy, communication skills etc. But management field or the corporate sector is never biased to gender issues. Hardworking and skills are key elements of success in any field and that goes for HR as well. We can say that, HR is good option for boys. MBA in human resource is a good choice for boys. Actually, the decision of taking HR is depend on the personal interest. So, if someone is interested in MBA HR, then definitely you can take decision on that. As you must very well know, an MBA - HR is one department that is concerned with the internal clients. If you heard somewhere, that the specific job is for girls, they are more suitable for the post, which is totally misconception. Anybody can do whatever they want to do.

Hi, MBA is Masters in business administrations and HR is a specialization that people pursue according to their interest. There are no classifications as such regarding the specialization based on gender. Moreover, many students opt for Human Resource. Many companies or most of the companies have male human resource managers. Any specialization which you have interest in, is good in your college and you can handle it for long duration must be chosen be it may be Marketing, Finance, Operations or Human Resource as no gender baggage is attached with any of the specializations or any course. It is the zeal, interest and the change that you can bring to the field or the company matters the most. Human Resource for girls are preferred as due to many reasons one and the foremost reason being the safety the family.

I don't think so that MBA in HR is only for girls. It depends on an individual's interest that where he or she wants to go for work and the field he/she opts for. HR job is a very responsible official job.

Yes, they do say that HR belongs to girls. Boys, they are all marketing and hardcore sales chaps who will push themselves day in and out to achieve targets. But the reality is now the misconception has to be changed as companies want male HRs nowadays where they can appoint them to factory locations. To keep a girl in a factory location is or might be risky for a company as male domination in factory is more. So, at the time of a strike, the HR has to control the part and it can lead to a risk for girls. MBA is for everyone now. We have to change the mentality of the people who think that certain gender will go on with certain professions. The fact is girls who were earlier told by everyone that sales are not your cup of tea are actually the ones who are breaking this thinking and achieving 200% percent of their target every month. Yes, a company doesn't want their girl power to be in any problem but that doesn't mean that they are anywhere less than a male MBA professional. So you're thinking has to be changed. Yes, I do agree girls do apply for HR a lot but the gradual shift has begun in the industry where the profession where girls, where needed, are opened for boys more because of the working conditions and for girls all segments are welcoming with an open mindset.

HR is the best possible field for people from all Background. So chill, you can go for it regardless of your gender. Most of the Director and CEOs of companies are Men. Men make the best HR. Because of the changing scenario, it is challenging for the students especially for females to choose, which MBA specialization they should choose to get a better job. There are numerous popular MBA specializations available ( like common specializations i.e. Marketing, Human Resources, Information Technology, MBA in Finance, MBA in media marketing, MBA in Entrepreneurship, MBA in healthcare management etc.). But, choosing the right one helps in designing the right career path for you. HR people have to be good listeners and communicators. They need to organize things peacefully. They have to talk to people and negotiate. Males can revolt sometimes. That's why people say, that MBA is HR is for girls. But, it doesn't mean, that boys cannot do it or something like that. It is just the misconception. Girls can do whatever they want.
