Why has there been a fall in popularity among IT students to join mass recruiters like TCS, Infosys, and Accenture?

Hello, I understand there has been a sharp decline in the volume of candidates joining Mass - recruiting companies like TCS, Infosys etc, but as a close observer of the entire scenario, I would not consider this to be an outcome of lack of popularity, but is mostly because of volatile market conditions. Because of the current volatile market conditions, most of those mass - recruiting companies have had to reduce the manpower. This has resulted in an increased bench strength or waiting list of the company. It now becomes the responsibility of the company to ensure that these employees are allotted a domain before hiring new candidates. This saves the company from an overhead of training new individuals. Performance calibration measures have been elevated to ensure highly skilled manpower are only serving the company. This has led to an insecurity among the employees in these organizations. Further, if there is a less requirement for employees working in domain X, the employees are being asked to migrate to a domain Y or they are asked to resign. Due to this, the employees aren't able to establish their career in a specific domain which results in a fluctuating career graph. Thirdly, there has been a huge inclination of the current generation to emerge as entrepreneurs. It is also not a valid point to blame the companies in this case as they are trying their best to maintain the equilibrium. While they are trying their best to retain the employees, they have to act according to the market conditions and as per the demands of the client they are serving. It should also be noted that the level of training these companies provide are way better than those given by any start-up. Further,the companies do not immediately put too much pressure on a newcomer, allowing an incubation period for the employee to get used to the company workflow. I hope this answers your question.

Hello, Yes, it is a crucial fact that now the IT students are showing unwillingness to join the companies like TCS, Infosys, and Accenture as a part of mass recruiting. The following could be the possible reason: (#) Now, the IT students want to choose the field and specialize in it. In the companies like TCS and Infosys, they hire the IT graduates in bulk. Hence, some of the IT students may not get the desired designation. And thus, they find it difficult to adapt in that culture. (#) In bulk recruitment, there is no individual growth. Company finds very hard to monitor over the performance of every individual and so, individual development is almost negligible. This is also the biggest reason that IT students are not considering Mass recruiters as their job destination. Apart from that, various factors like salary, ethical & work culture etc. are the reasons due which the IT students are not going to Mass recruiters.

TCS, Infosys and Accenture are mass recruiting companies that hire students in lakhs all over India per year. Many students who are unable to get placed in their dream job, join these companies for the sake of job and money. There has been a fall in popularity for the students to join these companies due to many reasons. First, the pay scale that they offer. Those which get graduated form a reputed Institute would not get attracted towards the salary that they offer as he/she would expect more. They would also receive a lesser hike. Then, the job security is another reason for this issue. As they recruit many, they cannot offer work to every single person and so they need to kick out many people. Automation is also one of the reasons for the loss in the job of IT employees. In IT jobs, it is a common problem that only if there are projects, people would be enrolled otherwise they need to spend their time uselessly and so this would lead to their loss of time as well as experience in working. Then, there would not be any individual contribution to the growth of a company as mostly everyone would work in teams. This would also create them a lesser exposure. You would also not have a place for innovation and to air your views as it is a huge environment. So this would also make the IT Jobs in mass recruiting company’s non user friendly. These are the major reasons for which there has been a lack of interest with the students in case of mass recruiting IT companies.
