    • Historical Significance: Established is the year 1961 renamed in the honour of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in the 1973 the institution has had great history of the royal family of Patiala.

    Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Patiala India which is also Asia's the largest Sports Institute is housed in the palatial monumental building and sprawling lawns built by the erstwhile Maharaja of Patiala whose descendants dedicated this complex for the promotion of sports to the people of India.

    Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports is so famous because the college has more than 1500 alumni, more than 99 international coaches aand even more than 50 Olympians, greater than 20 Khel Ratna Awardees and so on. The college has about 12 sports departments which includes the 7 stadia and stadiums, 4 gymnasiums & 1 Olympic size swimming bath. This college has the most successful sports education in India as it is providing more than 40 % of India's Olympics and more than 50 % of international Olympiad.
