Purdue University is a distinguished public research institution and is one of the largest universities in the state of Indiana. Founded in 1869 by local businessman John Purdue, the university has an enrollment of around 50,000 students from more than 135 different countries. The main campus, located in West Lafayette, spans over 2,660 acres. Although Purdue does not usually appear in the top 10 universities worldwide, it is consistently recognised among the top 100 global universities.
