If you are determined to qualify JEE and you are ready to do anything it takes to clear the exam, then you surely should drop a year and prepare for JEE. In future when you will attend an interview for a job, You are surely going to be asked about the reason of you dropping a year, so please be ready to face all the questions put by the world on your decision of dropping. I too have decided to drop a year and join kota. All the best.

It depends on your preparation. If your preparation is good then there is no need to drop a year.
