Can a student who is preparing for CAT give GMAT with the same knowledge or will he need a seperate preparation for GMAT?

Well, preparation for CAT and GMAT are a bit different, you may attempt GMAT for a trail once with the same preparation, or give a mock test may be. Only then, you will realize the difference that you need in your preparation and the areas you need to pay heed to for GMAT. -

Yes, a separate preparation is required for both CAT and GMAT since the level of questions asked in these exams are different from each other. For example, the level of English in CAT is comparatively lower than that of the GMAT. Giving free mocks without any preparation would let you know it in a much better way.
