Can I get a job in software industry after completing B.Tech in mechanical engineering?

    Dear, As far as my concern Mechanical Engineering is a very good and standard field. Even Mechanical Engineering students are trained in CAD/CAM. But if you are very much interested in software/IT field you can additionally study software subjects and prepare yourself to attend placement interviews conducted by software companies. . Now a days most of the software companies recruit candidates from all disciplines. If you have interested in IT field surely you will get success. But you have to gain proper knowledge about the programming languages like C+, C#, Java, .NET etc.

    Hello Kapil,
    No, it not necessary. It actually depends on your college that offers placement opportunities. If core companies for mechanical engineering branch comes then you may get a core job or else, you will be forced to get a job in software companies only. So, you need to choose a college that offers core companies for placements.

    If you are from a top college like IITs, BITS Pilani, VIT, etc. Then, you can get a core company.
