    Perfusion technology deals with the study of physiology and the pathology of the respiratory organs of the human body. Perfusion Technology is basically the study of the heart & lungs and various such equipment that are a pivotal part of all top surgical processes. Perfusion Technology comes under the Paramedical section. Perfusion Technology is a three-year UG course.

    Students must have cleared 10+2 from a recognised board with 45% under the Science stream with compulsory subjects Physics Chemistry Biology.

    Some surgical procedures cannot be performed while the heart is beating, in such cases heart's functions have to be taken over by external machinery. Here comes the role of a Percussionist to operate the heart lung machine. A heart-lung machine is used to keep the patients' blood flowing until the heart can be restarted. During open heart surgery, patient's heart is stopped and blood is diverted away from the heart and lungs into the heart-lung machine which oxygenates the blood and returns it to the patient.
