Dear Virat doing a PhD is all about creating fresh knowledge, discovering new things and developing new skills. It is a degree meant for those who seek greater depth of knowledge in a specific area. Its about choosing new fields of research and attempt to discover pathbreaking facts. Emphasizes on off-the-shelf research to create new knowledge and explore future challenges. The researcher is expected to identify the research gaps, formulate objectives and develop methodologies. LPU provides students opportunities to participate in placement, extra-curricular and various other development activities. The eligibility criteria for courses other than agriculture is
a) Pass with 55% aggregate marks in MBA/ M.Sc. (Management)/ M.Com/ MIB/ MFC or equivalent, subject to qualifying LPUNEST and Interview;
b) Other conditions as prescribed in the Guidelines for Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D. ) programmes. (5% relaxation to SC/ ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ differently-able candidates)
The Admission Criteria:
An applicant will be short listed for interview on the basis of his/ her score in the entrance examination LPUNEST (Ph.D. ). The final selection for admission in Ph.D. will be based on the performance in Entrance Test (70% weightage) and Interview (30% weightage) subject to scoring minimum marks in the Interview. LPU offers flexible course work in three different options and tentative schedule is mentioned below:
Option I Duration - One semester - August to November 2021 - Saturdays 03:00 P. M. - 05:00 P. M. Sundays 09:00 A. M. - 04:00 P. M. Option II Duration - 4 days every month (preferably every second week (Thursday-Sunday) September to December 2021- 09:00 A. M. - 06:00 P. M. (daily)
Option III Duration - 15 days - November to December 2021 - 09:00 A. M. - 06:00 P. M. (daily)
For Full Time Ph.D. students :
After presenting a State-Of-the-Art (SOTA) seminar, there is fair chance to the students to pursue teaching assistantship in LPU only. Though the selection is completely depends upon selection committee & requirement. There are huge scholarship opportunities for the Ph.D. students
1) Upto 90% for Full Time and 70% for Part Time on the basis of LPU NEST cut off
2) Scholarship of up to 90% of the Programme fee is offered in Ph.D. programmes on the basis of GATE GPAT SPM, JRF, NET, affiliations. For example candidates from Centrally Funded Research Labs, Industry Professionals, Teaching Fraternity etc. Are considered for various Scholarship.

Yes, LPU offers part time Ph.D. in various courses. The part time Ph.D. scholars who have been allocated supervisors are required to maintain at least 75% attendance in the weekly interaction time slot with their supervisors in online mode through MyClass platform. In addition, part time Ph.D. scholars are required to maintain the biometric attendance for offline reporting in LPU for at least 7 days in a semester. Furthermore, it is expected that the Ph.D. scholars should visit LPU as and when required or asked by the supervisor depending upon the progress of his/her research work.
